Principal Purpose of Position:

  • Inspect product as produced in manufacturing
  • Examine for cracks, rust, excessive spatter from welding, deep gouges, liquids on metal etc.
  • Examine paint for chips, cracks, shade variances or unpainted areas.
  • Touch up paint product as needed
  • Inspect all parts coming off paint line prior to packaging, ensure 100% quality inspection.
  • Responsible for verifying line items have been completed on the work order.
  • Tabulate data to assist in training shop employees on production errors.
  • Inform and communicate suggestions and errors to relevant departments for continuous improvement of the installation process.
  • Understand the value that quality plays in the overall success of the company, help in increasing the quality of our products for the appearance and safety for our customers.
  • Ability to think on your own and request assistance when needed.
  • Must comply with the company’s safety policies and clean initiative standards.
  • Ensure compatibility of components and validate order correctness before up-fit.
  • Directs and inspects the work of the quality control inspector
  • Identify quality issues prior to paint. Ex: Inform the Paint/Applications Lead of paint flaws due to painting issues or spotting in paint etc. associated with paint or pre-treatment.
  • Oversee the packaging Quality of all products and ensure there is no product being damaged during packaging.
  • Follow Quality Assurance Policy set forth in Form & Fusion guidelines
  • Develop with the packaging lead all package weights and document.
  • Work with employees when discrepancies are noticed during the packaging of products that will damage the product or potentially have quality flaws and correct any issues.
  • Inform the Packaging Lead of employees not following work instructions given by the Packaging Lead at the start of jobs.
  • Inform Packaging Lead of all discrepancies for product decisions of acceptance.
  • Ensure product is meeting all customer final requirements of product produce

Education and/or Training:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be detailed orientated.
  • Able to work in multiple environments – shop, outside in all types of weather conditions as well as in an office.
  • Able to understand blueprints and critical welding requirements.
  • Must have adequate tools to complete assigned duties.
  • Must be able to understand the operating requirements of the installed equipment.
  • Pass a physical, drug test, and criminal background check prior to employment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple vehicle specifications
  • Microsoft office basic skills

Relevant Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Paint Quality
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sheet metal
  • Minimum 2 years of welding knowledge
  • Has to be able to read CAD drawings
  • Familiar with mechanical design, usage, and repair of machines and tools.
  • Knowledge in design using plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Be able to use measuring tools, such as calipers, tape measure and material thickness gauges
  • Must be able read Mil gauge tools, record mil thicknesses to ensure proper mil thickness.
